Spring in real estate is about as irratic
as spring in the weather. Some of it is bleak, and some lovely. Supply is low in the Cambridge-Somerville-Arlington area and
is high in the farther suburbs, in general. I am seeing fast sales, and other (nice) homes sitting on the market.
Groundhog's Day is the official holiday of 4 Buyers Real Estate
Rona tells you
why:
I first decided to use Groundhog's Day as my annual card-mailing holiday
because it was a holiday which no one can object to. Groundhog's day is the half-way point of the winter. Here in New
England, this is a good occasion to mark.
The more I thought about it, the more I liked groundhogs. They are
sweet animals; they are fuzzy, pretty friendly, a little awkward, and home (hole) loving. They are individuals; one would
never find a groundhog is a big corporate environment, but one might work in a small, service-oriented place like 4 Buyers
Real Estate. I realized that groundhogs were something like me and my business.
The more I learned about the history
of Groundhog's Day, the more I noticed how it reflected my values. The holiday is about keeping in tune with the
seasons; this spoke to me. As a sustainable housing advocate, an environmentalist since the late 1960's, and a Prius
driver since 2001, the groundhog felt consistent. I also work in interfaith circles, so understanding the many religious observances
which follow the seasons is something I respect.
Last,
and least, I hate the idea of my picture on the web site. For years, I posted a picture of a groundhog instead of my real
estate mug shot. He's cuter than me! Now that I own the company, I have to be more dignified, alas!
All in all, the
groundhog has been good to me.
I hope you like our groundhog totem!
